FEELING WHISKEY

Feeling Whiskey is a surrealistic graphite portrait of Post Malone’s two musical identities. The left shows his appearance from his debut album era and the right side portrays his country look. The subtle separation between the two identities also shows the balance between them as they are vastly different, but their foundation is the same. Post Malone’s transition into country feels natural, so I wanted to portray that with this piece.

Process & Final Construction

Once the concept was pieced together in Photoshop, I outlined the portrait onto paper and began with a light sketch. Over the course of this piece, I used graphite pencils from H to 14B and 90% isopropyl alcohol.

Along with a hand-drawn graphite portrait, the frame is also hand-made. The wood used is recycled cedar carefully crafted into a 15”x15” frame from an old fence picket. Once constructed, I stained the wood with Posty’s go-to beer, Bud Light, as a final touch and secret nod to the artist.
